Community Speedwatch (CSW) teams are groups of local people who volunteer their time to help keep their communities safe. They operate under the direction of Sussex Police, and are trained to monitor the speeds of vehicles travelling through their communities.
Their aims are to:
- Reduce death and injury on the roads
- Improve the quality of life for their local communities
- Reduce the speed of vehicles to the speed limit
- Increase public awareness of inappropriate speed
Three young volunteers from Uckfield Community College joined the speedwatch team for a session. They were very enthusiastic and excellent at recognising car makes and models.
